The steel industry is an energy intensive industry. That means every year tons of GJ are put into use to support production levels, which results in high costs and CO2 emissions. To bring costs and emissions down, Tata steel works hard to improve its energy performance. Over the years, we managed to achieve outstanding efficiency levels, but to keep improving we need to beyond. One way to do so, is by exploring ways of giving an end goal to the carbon we emit.
We expect you to investigate the potential technologies for the separation of nitrogen (N2) and carbon monoxide (CO) from our gas streams.
For this challenge we invite MSc students with a chemical, mechanical, physics or environmental sciences background and an interest in energy topics to dive into a deep analysis with us. Successful candidates have an eye to detail, are curious and have good summarizing skills. You are a student with good personal and communication skills, work well in a team, can follow deadlines and take initiatives. Preferably you have already experience with analysis of big data and advanced analytics. Because of the Dutch regulations for work permits, you need to be enrolled in a Dutch University, or you need to be a EU citizen.
