Within the Steelmaking and Casting group of the Ironmaking, Steelmaking & Casting department we are looking for a principal researcher in the field of continuous steel casting. You will strengthen a growing team of steelmaking and continuous casting specialists, and will work in multidisciplinary projects to improve process and product quality in various areas of continuous casting.
Activities in the field of continuous casting consist of working on the entire route from tundish metallurgy via mould fluid flow, primary and secondary slab cooling to slab quality. You will work as a process researcher optimizing process and product quality. Work is done in multi-disciplinary teams from different research groups that specialize in physical and numerical modelling, physical process analysis, development of measurement methods and chemical process technology.
You have an innovative mindset and will set up experimental and modelling research activities from proposal to plant implementation. Furthermore you will be involved in setting up new measurement methods in the plant. You will start in existing projects involving conventional casting and thin slab casting. You will grow quickly to become an independent project leader in the challenging area of continuous casting.
As a company expert, you are involved in Tata Steel’s main research themes like process reliability, process automation, sustainability and developing measurement methods. You will work in close cooperation with prominent researchers from various disciplines in an open, international and academic culture with highly motivated colleagues.
