In this role you are responsible for giving technical advice to automotive customers, notably about the interaction between our (Tata Steel) products and their (customer) processes. In addition, you are responsible for expressing the ‘Voice of the customer’ to the manufacturing hubs, thereby directly influencing the outcome of technical customer satisfaction.
Your customers are existing customers like Tesla, with whom Tata Steel has forged long term commitments. In order to achieve the goals set by various stakeholders such as Tata Steel's sales & marketing department, Tata Steel’s manufacturing hubs and automotive customers, you will be regularly meeting with the Tata Steel departments involved and traveling to customers on a frequent basis.
In order to meet customer’s goals we need to stretch our capabilities and performance. Customers rate us at quality against the general standards of the automotive industry. You will not only focus on our OEM’s, but increasingly on suppliers in the complete supply chain including Tier1’s and Steel Service Centers.

Furthermore you are required to advise on product improvements, striving to continuously match customer expectations with an improved product performance as well as advising our sales & marketing colleagues about how improvements in product mix may be made to increase technical customer satisfaction.
In future you could develop towards a Lead engineer position.

Customer Technical Services (CTS) is part of the larger Technical department on the IJmuiden site. CTS is responsible for product quality at the customer and for technical services towards the customer. CTS represents the manufacturing hubs at the customer, and the customer at the manufacturing hubs. We work in close cooperation with other departments such as Commercial, Technical, R&D, Customer Services and Logistics and operates on a global level. Intensive cooperation via multidisciplinary account teams ensures and aligns the total Tata Steel customer experience.
