Dit ga jij doen
Managing vessels, coordinating international shipping operations and developing smarter transport solutions? As a group shipping operations specialist at Tata Steel in IJmuiden, you do all three. On our site covering 1,500 football pitches, you help keep millions of tonnes of cargo moving safely, efficiently and sustainably.
Tata Steel's Shipping Team manages a portfolio of approximately 41 million tonnes per year, ranging from outbound steel products to bulk shipping. You start in a Tata Steel Europe operations-focused role, where you plan and operate vessels and work with colleagues and partners across different countries and time zones.
As a group shipping operations specialist at Tata Steel...
- Coordinate the day-to-day planning and operation of outbound vessels. This includes time-chartered vessels, contracts of affreightment and spot fixtures.
- Manage our time-chartered short-sea fleet. You handle voyage instructions, cargo planning, agency appointments, bunker coordination, documentation and post-fixture activities.
- Bring different parties together. You coordinate with charterers, planners, stevedores and vessels, always with a strong focus on safety and quality.
- Monitor performance and costs. You track the performance of the short-sea network, report monthly results and support claims management.
- Help develop new transport solutions. You contribute to improving our supply chain and work closely with our inbound operations team in Kolkata.
- Take ownership of the complete operational shipping process. You are responsible for coordinating all activities surrounding a vessel call, including planning, execution and the alignment of all involved parties such as agents, terminals and service providers.
- Visit vessels when required. As part of the role, you will occasionally go on board ships to coordinate activities and ensure operations run smoothly.
- Contribute to digitalisation and data-driven improvements. Together with colleagues, you help identify opportunities for automation, improved planning and smarter decision-making through data and new technologies.
